Found job on Craigslist. Sent in resume. Got immediate email reply from HR who scheduled a call for me to speak one of co-Founders next day. Phone interview lasted 20 min. He asked me to come in to meet him in 2 days, for a 4 hour interview. Had to fill out a really long career history form which took hours to complete and get it back to him ASAP. He expected me to drop everything to accommodate his schedule as he wanted to move so fast. The form was a repeat of resume plus Qs like, "What were you accountable for achieving in this role? What results did you achieve? Quantify w #s, How did you do it? What challenges were overcome? What failures/ mistakes did you make? What did you like most/least about the job?" The interview was a marathon, to create the vibe of what it might be like to work there. Founder laid out vision and goals for the company and wanted me to critique his model, and come up with strategies on the fly. Translation: He picked my brain under the guise of wanting to "see how i think," and got thousands of dollars worth of consulting for free. You could not give short answers. He would press you for more, and if you challenged him on something, he did not like it. Although smart and ambitious, having built a high growth co w impressive client base in a short time, I found him to be very arrogant, immature, and lacking in good management skills or manners. Slave driver mentality. If you are 20 something, you might not know the difference, but if you have been in the work force for awhile, you will not want to put up with it. After 4 hours with no break, I tried to excuse myself to use restroom, and he refused to let me go! He wanted to suck more information out of me, and to stay until he was ready to dismiss me. I have worked in many startups and am used to the stress and insane workloads, but this was totally out of line. Overstepped other boundaries like asking for personal tax returns as proof of my prior earnings which are none of his business. Constantly nitpicking to find weaknesses. Was an adrenaline high at the time because we were brainstorming, but walked out of there feeling like I had been ambushed. Wondered if the other Founder might be a better leader.

      Domanda 1

Although none of the questions were difficult, what was most unexpected is how much he tried to put me on the spot, and to take take take from me, without giving anything back. The whole process felt exploitative, and like he would stop at nothing to get what he wanted. Uses people.

Dear Candidate, Thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback. I'm sorry you came away from the interview process feeling this way and hope that providing my side of the story helps clear things up. Our screening process is intentionally designed to be a rigorous one...it ensures that we identify the best talent possible for our organization. This has always been extremely important to us. With the help of a consultant, we incorporated best practices into the hiring process when we first started the company. You can blame Topgrading Methodology for that career history form and Mark Suster's blog for the tax returns idea! We want to understand how our candidates think and the strategic value they bring to the table. We're not in the business of bossing people around...we want people that we can learn from, who aren't afraid to question status quo. If we thought we knew everything, we wouldn't be as successful as we are today. I have difficulty believing I would deny someone a break for any reason. I drink a lot of water, have a small bladder and am absolutely incapable of sitting still for for 4 hours, certainly not without a bathroom break! At the end of the day, you are entitled to your own conclusions on what I am like as a manager, but I'd encourage you or any candidate to speak directly to my reports or anyone at TaskUs about their experiences working with me or my co-founder. Putting people on the spot is part of the interview process and I'm sorry you walked away from the experience feeling exploited. I am more than happy to speak with you personally about this and always welcome feedback around things we can change to make the candidate experience at TaskUs an even better one. Jaspar Weir

FAST, even though there was a typing test everything was done smoothly and, you can grab a cup of coffee while waiting. It's a regular one day process, furthermore if you fail an interview for an account they would be glad to reprofile you to a different account just to make sure that you will be able to land that Job Offer.

They would be keen on your attendance so most questions would be about that.
