This was one of the more unusual interview experiences I’ve had. The process required a significant time commitment, yet there was very little actual discussion about the role itself. Much of the conversation felt more like a sales pitch about the company rather than an interview designed to help the candidate understand the position. Across multiple conversations, the insight into the role remained oddly opaque, almost as if the details of the work were being kept somewhat confidential. At one point, the “hiring manager” from Teleion joined the conversation while meeting with the client, which was unexpected and, frankly, somewhat bizarre to experience as a senior professional candidate. A strong focus on explaining the company’s model and benefits, while spending far less time discussing the actual responsibilities of the role, could easily strike candidates the wrong way, especially after investing several hours in the process. It can start to feel less like a two-way interview and more like attending a company presentation rather than gaining a clear understanding of the job. What made the experience even more puzzling was the lack of clarity around the final decision. The interviews themselves seemed to go very well, yet the rejection came without any meaningful explanation. After investing significant time in the process, some level of feedback would have helped provide closure and insight.
