All stages were, as one can imagine, fully remote.
• A 2-hour coding challenge/assessment through HackerRank, of the kind most of these coding challenges through Hackerrank are. Gauged much more towards establishing basic levels of coding ability, rather than trying to catch you out with something super obscure.
• A 30-minute non-technical interview. Professional and welcoming, which is a hard balance, and gave a good sense of the company and its current ambitions/challenges. Refreshingly open about the recruitment process from their point-of-view as well.
• A 1-hour code-pair interview. Some technical issues meant a last-minute change to my interviewer, but Tessian were able to find someone else to conduct the interview within the hour. Otherwise a low-stress interview, conducted through a Hackerrank codepair session (at least, I'm 90% sure it was Hackerrank, but I may be mistaken). Interviewer was communicative and helpful throughout. Never felt like my errors were fatal, which certainly helped with resolving them.
• Final interviews. Two 45-min interviews: one technical and one about portfolio/experience. The technical interview resembled the previous code-pair, also conducted through Hackerrank. Felt much the same way about the interviewer as I did the previous round; helpful and communicative, which had the added benefit of reflecting well on the company more broadly. This was followed by a broader technical question, which asked for a freeform answer. Quite sure that I rambled for ages and ages...
The second interview, conducted immediately following the first, was about my past experience, projects I'd done or worked on, and what I had contributed to and learned from them. It was a nice chance to discuss my own work from my own perspective, ascribe value to aspects I considered most impactful, and reflect on my coding journey to this point.
The recruitment process was smooth throughout, and moved at a good pace. Questions were answered quickly, emails about progression through the process were detailed. A really great experience all-round.
