For clarity, and for anyone considering this role:
* The IT Systems Engineer / Administrator position is a full-time, rostered role with a rotating on-call component to support critical systems (including some weekends and public holidays).
* The on-call requirement was outlined at multiple points: during the initial phone conversation, discussed again at interview, and summarised in a follow-up email. In later correspondence, the candidate acknowledged these discussions and asked for further clarification.
* We support flexibility where a role permits it. This position has limited scope to vary hours within a shift due to rostered coverage. The candidates need to change to start/finish times was raised after the offer stage and was not raised during any of the interviews. We assessed that request against the role’s inherent requirements and determined it could not be accommodated in this position. The outcome related to role fit, not capability.
Different teams at MaxSoft operate differently: many roles are remote-first; infrastructure roles carry additional coverage obligations by design.
