      Colloquio per Account Representative

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura online. La procedura ha richiesto una settimana. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso The VIII (White Plains, NY) nel mese di nov 2012

      Colloquio

Overall very dishonest and vague hiring process throughout. I applied via an online job posting on snagajob.com for an "Entry Level Marketing Manager". I received a call back a few hours after applying, and they asked for an interview the following day at the White plains, ny location. Despite my questions regarding the job over the phone, they were extremely vague, and assured me my questions would be answered in person. When I arrived, there were about 6 ot 7 people in the waiting room also interviewing. While I was there, people were shuffling in and out constantly for interviews. I had a 5 minute interview with a hiring manager where again, the description of the job was extremely vague, and none of my questions were answered straight-forwardly. I was (as i suspect 99% of the people coming in) asked back for a 2nd interview. I was told it was an all-day interview "in the field". Ok, so I bite, despite my suspicions, and return the following week on the scheduled day for the field interview, where I am assigned to a "senior associate" who was an account rep who had been there for a whopping 6 months. Him and I are chatting a bit, and he asks if I knew what the job was about, and I tell him how everyone has been so vague up to this point, and he laughs and isn't surprised. So, long story short, he is assigned to a section of the bronx, and goes door to door to businesses to try to sell them Verizon services. This is NOTHING like what I was told, not even close to the job description, and not at all what I was looking for. In an effort to not be rude, and possibly find some positive in all of this, I stay through the day, and watch the senior rep go door to door and get rejection after rejection. Then eventually we head back to the office in White Plains for a wrap-up interview, where I am offered the position (again, as I suspect 99% of applicants are). The pay is very very low...100% commission, and starts off at a level of an average of ~$400/week. Basically it's a pyramid scheme where you need to sell, sell, sell until you get promoted into a management role, and then recruit more sales people who will sell, sell, sell and you'll get a cut of. Extremely misleading job postings, and vague descriptions. I wish they didn't waste my time, and were upfront from the beginning.

      Colloquio

Contacted me after finding my resume on Careerbuilder.com. Scheduled an interview very quickly and would not describe position in detail until interview process. Initial interview was 15 min. preliminary where I was told about the company, answered some basic questions, but nothing about job details. I was told I would learn more in the next all day interview process. Next interview is an all day outing with one of the sales reps in their territory, who you will be casually talking to while you go out and sign people up to buy office supplies. At lunch we discussed the pay structure, expected compensation and expected rates of advancement. After receiving a job offer I went back to sign the contract, which required a two week commitment, and the expected rate of advancement and compensation averages were lowered drastically.

      Domanda 1

Nothing too difficult, they want anyone who can talk coherently and has no qualms employing whatever tactics it takes to make a sale, mostly persistence and making people who are too uncomfortable or kind to tell you to get out keep talking to you until they fold.
