My interviewer called me 15 minutes late to start. He looked over my resume and started talking at me as if I had no experience, clearly not realizing I work for a competitor. I’m not sure if it was ignorance or arrogance but it was very alarming. He then asked me what my sales process looked like, and immediately started telling me that my process doesn’t work. He said that toast expects you to be a door knocker and pound the pavement for the majority of your day. It was made very clear that I was not a good fit for their sales process, I am shocked that a leader in the restaurant pos industry relies on a severely outdated sales process that does not reliably work in this competitive environment. The interviewer then asked me if I had been applying at other companies, clearly implying that I didn’t know what I was doing. It was very insulting, I am still shocked on how absurd and bizarre this 20 minute conversation was. If you are an “old school” door to door salesmen with no respect for your own or your clients time, then Toast is anxiously waiting for you to apply.
