Strung along for over six weeks with very little information or feedback, and zero idea how it went from the hiring manager. I was finally asked to do a final project which I easily spent 4x the time on. When presenting I asked if there was anything missing, anything else I could have added, anything I should have done more in depth. "Nope , this was great". Afterwards, was told they went with someone else who had more years of experience so who knows if they were even serious about me? But at least they strung me along for almost two months and made me devote several days and late nights to a pointless project that didn't help anything since they had already decided before then.
Thank you for taking the time to interview with Toast and for sharing your experience. We know how much effort goes into the interview process, so I can imagine this was a very frustrating situation for you. I'm disappointed to hear that you did not receive the feedback you were hoping for. Please reach out to me on LinkedIn if you would like to discuss further. - Jeff Moore, VP of Talent

TREAT YOUR CANDIDATES WITH A LITTLE MORE RESPECT. Process was 4 rounds, with the final round being a case study presentation. I made it to the final round, thought it went very well, and then they just completely ghosted on me. Recruiter dodged my calls and emails to ask about the status. In the end, they didn't even send so much as a quick email to let me know I wasn't chosen - they just never spoke to me again, despite all the time and effort I put into my final-round presentation. Sadly, I also know that I am not the only person this has happened to at Toast. Some advice: respect the time and effort your candidates put into the process by at least having the decency to tell them the final result. Many of your candidates are trying to balance your rigorous interview process with the demands of an existing full-time job, parenthood, etc. And ultimately, nearly half of your reviews on this site are negative - so, rather than posting generic automated apologies to each one, just incorporate a little more respect into the interview process!

(4 weeks and 3 rounds into the process): "What are your salary expectations?"

I will be sure to share your experience with our Talent Acquisition leaders so that we can look carefully at our practices and make improvements to our candidate experience. I'd encourage you to reach out to me directly on LinkedIn. I would really like to learn more about what happened here. - Jeff Moore, VP of Talent Acquisition

First attempt at telephone screen with HR was cancelled. Second (re-scheduled) appt was 20 minutes late. The first question was "what is your salary expectation" (right off the bat). I gave a number that I knew was below market rate. The interview indicated the salary range was $40K BELOW the number I referenced.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, although I'm disappointed that your experience doesn't reflect what we aim to provide for all candidates. I'd welcome an additional conversation about how we could've done things better. Feel free to reach out to me directly. - Jeff Moore, VP of Talent Acquisition
