      Colloquio

Imagine going to an interview where you leave knowing more about the recruiters than the actual job or even company benefits offered. The interview process wasn't an interview it was two hours of group job questions trivia and two minutes of "speed dating" interviews that weren't job specific. The hiring event begin at 6pm at the HOT Workforce Solutions in Waco, TX. The event begin signing into the log and getting a name badge. I immediately noticed the recruiters were dressed up in with top hats, tutus, and wings. Completely unprofessional for your first impression of a new company that is supposed to be creating jobs for Texans. There was 0 social distancing involved. They had groups go in ahead of us as we lined up on top of each other. There was no six feet apart. From here one of the recruiters spoke about us going around "stations" that would describe the specific job areas within the venue. These "stations" you only get two minutes again to learn about the roles. This was done on a three way makeshift poster board by a million dollar company which is crazy. A Power Point would suffice or even printing a paper saying the job roles, what each entails, and company benefits. Where is the recruitment pens, pencils, stress balls, folders, pen pad, hand sanitizer, branded anything to show some kind of professionalism? Anyway, after walking through all the stations, we sat at tables and were introduced to the managers. Following this the lights were dimmed and recruiting video was played. At this point they put us into groups by name and begin pulling people for the real "speed dating" interviews. This is the most disrespectful thing I've ever seen any company do. To take advantage of someone's time by giving them quick two minute station interviews back to back and not asking any questions at all about someone's background. My question was about hobbies and why they interest me? That was it. It was incredibly frustrating to not even be able to start a conversation, but meanwhile I know all about them from their introductions in the other room. As I returned from the "speed dating" interview process we continued the job questions trivia till everyone was done. Once everyone was finished they thanked us for our time and didn't allow any real questions to be asked. The opener recruiter said that we couldn't ask about pay, benefits, when they open, parking, dress code, or anything else. It was ridiculous. These are things an applicant must know when making an informed decision for any job. They overall came off very arrogant and gave off a bad vibe. They did offer to ask questions after the group settings ended. As we were dismissed I felt like this is the kind of employer who doesn't take itself too seriously. Anyway, they said they would get back to us on Friday. That never happened. It wasn't until Monday that I decided to text them and touch base. They apologized and I got a rejection call later the same evening. This is not the first poor communication I received from this company. Initially they texted me and asked for my resume which was attached to my job application and my indeed. I had to personally send it over via email. Than, text them the following day saying am I confirmed or not for the interview? Highly disorganized company with terrible recruitment experience. When you have pride in your job and your brand you show it by telling applicants about benefits, a pay scale, commissions, requirements such as TABC/Food Handlers and do everything you possibly can to excite and prepare them for the job. I have 0 interest in this point in the company or what they offer as an entertainment venue. Seeing as no Covid-19 practices were put in place at the recruitment event was enough to give me pause. Thanks for reading my review.
