The worst interview process I have ever experienced, could be a scam. First it consisted of a 30 minute informal zoom call with a junior member. After that, they ask you to cover your own travel expenses and spend 5 hours interviewing in person in their Alexandria, VA office giving you some time window in the next 7 days from your first interview to come do it. They give you little description of what to expect, and you spend the entire day doing behavioral and robotic interviews where each employee simply reads off questions, and then a final case study at the end. You will also have the chance to meet with the Managing Partner for a bit. After my full day of interviews, they let me know that everything was positive and that they'd be in touch soon regarding next steps. A few weeks later, I hadn't heard anything so I reached out and they told me that they were still sorting out some project needs for the new fiscal year (makes sense for a boutique consulting firm) and that they will be in touch soon. A few weeks later still nothing, so I reached out again and received no response. If forcing interviewees to immediately travel, pay your own expenses, spend an entire day interviewing, and then continuously leading them on for two months is not enough of a red flag about company culture, then I don't know what else could be. Stay away from TSG for your own good.

The worst interview process I have ever experienced. The 'process' consisted of a 30 min zoom interview with an entry-level analyst. After this brief call, where I learned very little about the company and role, I was invited to a final round interview at their office in Washington D.C. Not living in the area, I assumed my travel would be reimbursed by the company (like any reputable firm) -- not to be. A strategy consulting company run by a Wharton MBA somehow finds it acceptable to force its college-age candidates to spend hundreds of dollars to travel to their office just to be considered for the position. While ridiculous on its own, the fact that I only had a brief chance to learn about the company from someone who had worked at the firm for under a year before having to decide whether to attend this interview was preposterous. I foolishly made the decision to go to the final round interview. There was nothing particularly notable here (3 hr long conversations). After returning home and being told I would expect to hear from them relatively soon, I received an email asking me to complete their official job application. That is the last I heard from them. Despite reaching out several times for an update, I never heard back. While I'm glad I did not get an offer, the fact that they did not have the common courtesy to at least confirm I would not receive an offer after forcing me to spend hundreds of dollars and a full day just to participate in their process is patently absurd. I would recommend staying as far away from Tower Strategy as possible -- particularly if you are not already located in the DC area (and the lack of professionalism of its interview process is surely reflected in how it operates in client engagements).
