The interview process was long and convoluted. Online application (which I was told in the subsequent in-person interviews that "Online applications are a new thing! We have SO MANY coming in...too many really!") then phone interview, then in person interview and then another in person interview to not get the job. They partner up in the interviews so it's very "Good Cop/Bad Cop". There are more desirable locations to work at but don't forget, the parking lot is a nightmare when you're a customer, it's still that when interviewing. Pray that the managers/Mates that you interview with are male because the women who work in management here act like they have had to "...work so hard in a man's world to make their way up to management."....at a Trader Joe's. Everyone talks about this great culture at Trader Joe's, truth be told it's a lot like any other corporate grocery store. Might have been different way back when (and even though the management would have you believe it's still alive and well) they are 100% corporate, not mom and pop. I have over 20 years of customer service, at very high levels and in arguably the hardest industry, automotive. Apparently, according to Trader Joe's, I am not qualified.
