I applied for the Production Engineer position at Transformers and Rectifiers India Ltd through my college placement portal.
There was no written test — the process started directly with resume shortlisting, followed by an interview.
Interview Process Breakdown
1. Self-Introduction
The interview began with a basic introduction about my background, education, and interests.
2. Technical – Transformers Basics
They asked what I knew about transformers.
I explained:
Basic working principle
Purpose of transformers
Major parts like core, windings, insulation, oil tank, conservator, bushings, etc.
They were checking fundamental understanding — not deep electrical theory.
3. Technical – Welding Processes (Major Focus)
This was the most important part of the interview.
They asked about:
Different welding processes (Arc welding, MIG, TIG, etc.)
Specific function of each process
Where each welding method is used in manufacturing/fabrication
They were clearly looking for practical manufacturing knowledge, not just textbook definitions.
4. HR/Operational Question
Finally, they asked whether I was willing to relocate to Gujarat, since their manufacturing facilities are based there.
