      These guys seriously need to review their interview process. They called me for Engineering Manager interview. After some wait, two boys turned up. They asked a very simple question around designing a tool. It was very easy. I explained design, REST API, Schema, and main algorithm. After this round HR comes and says I did not clear. I was surprised. I don't know what went wrong. If the expectation was to talk about nth level detail of the solution, then I think you must not be looking for Engineering manager. Look at one of the questions they asked me: What is difference between REST API and JSON API? Are you serious? JSON is not an API. It is data format. Also, I would never reject Engineering manager candidate in first round when he would have very well answered a simple problem. Unless the Engineering manager candidate has really done too bad (which I believe, I had not) you always conduct more than one round. Immature, unclear about what they are looking for and definitely not technically sound folks interview you here.

      Introductory call and followed by Design, Engineering Manager and People Management discussion. First 2 round was good, mostly they were asking questions on their business use case and design. Interviewer who took 3rd round didn't have any personal connect neither interested in discussion. During discussion started flipping the phone message, then received message in his office messenger which I could hear notification sound. Post started to check email and asked to write development process for Treebo CM business use, meantime he stepped out. When he came back was not interested to see what I have written. Too much, shell bound not interested to hear what candidate has done before neither interested to understand there are different process to develop product. Define the problem statement, don't be specific to the answer you need - be open to listen for different approach & process. Every company has their own process, hierarchy structure and procedure followed. Please respect the candidate and have personal connect, as it Win - Win for both.
