      Colloquio per Financial Advisor

      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite l'università. La procedura ha richiesto 4 mesi. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso Treloar & Heisel (New Castle, PA) nel mese di gen 2012

      Colloquio

Applied through my University career board. I was contacted by a subcontractor (MassMutual) via phone for a brief phone interview. Once I passed that interview I was sent an email with instructions to complete a personality assessment/quiz. After passing that I was contacted again for another phone interview. Upon passing my second phone interview I was given a task to perform in a limited time frame. The task involved conducting 20 handwritten financial opinion surveys to 20 people in my 'outer circle'. After reviewing the survey questions and seeing that they did not relate to the position I was applying to I asked the interviewer how this task was relevant. I was informed that it was merely a way to weed out candidates who did not possess the social and communication skills necessary to work in the position. I completed the surveys ahead of schedule and let my interviewer know. The next step was for an interview to be arranged with the CFO. After waiting a couple of weeks I followed up again and in another couple of weeks I was finally contacted by email to schedule a phone interview with the CFO. After passing the phone interview I was contacted to attend an in-person interview with the same person. I was told that following a short interview we would go out to lunch. The headquarters is in Pennsylvania but there is an office an hours drive from my residence so I drove to the interview. The interview seemed to be more about how I physically looked than my skill set. After spending about half an hour with the CFO I was handed off to a person who was in a similar position to the one I was applying for. I asked questions about the position since none were really asked of me. About two hours were spent idly waiting on lunch time. I brought the 20 completed surveys as I was instructed to by MassMutual but my interviewer was not interested in collecting them- he actually had no idea what I was talking about. Although both people were very professional and friendly. Their body language and lack of interest in asking me questions led me to the very fast conclusion that I did not fit their visual for what they were looking for in a representative. After spending 4 months jumping through hoops and passing every interview and assessment with no problem it was clear to me that I would succeed in the position quite well. I would have appreciated if the company had asked for a head shot or physical description prior to having candidates spend so much time filtering through their checks. I received a letter from the CEO about 10 days following the in person interview. The letter simply stated that their company wasn't a fit for me rather than the other way around. I would have appreciated being reimbursed for travel expenses as other companies more than 30 minutes away have done but that was not the case.
