Colloquio
It was quite an impersonal start to the interview. I had to download their software and use this terrible archaic looking app. The beginning of the interview was through text chat. I thought I was talking to a bot. There is no camera, so neither party can see each other. Eventually, the interview turned into an audio one and the interview questions asked why I chose to be a tutor there, what experience I had, and a situational hypothetical tutoring scenario involving helping a student write out procedures. The question was ridiculous, and I answered it.
When I learned screenshare had limited capability and saw how terrible the whiteboard was, I was not impressed. Finally, after learning there was no way to get in contact with students, and part of the job consists of having the app open and no guarantee of a student inquiry, I decided it was not a great position. I withdrew my application the next day.
A student is having trouble with an assignment in which he has to write out the steps of making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. How do you help him?

The interview process at Tutor.com was straightforward. First, I had to complete at least one subject exam that was on demand, which took me a few days. Once I passed, the rest of the process was smooth and simple, including setting up my profile and waiting for approval to start working.

Colloquio
It was a quick and easy interview process but the job description made it seem more intense than it actually was, which was relieving but also a little annoying because it was misleading.

Domanda 1
One question they asked is how I would navigate teaching a student who was struggling with a concept.

The interview tested technical skills, but primarily tested communication/customer service skills. Also tested how well I could solve problems, or alter teaching strategies if one wasn’t working. The interviewer was very nice and complimented me when I did things well, and offered different approaches I could also take.
