As far as I know it was just one or two rounds since the role was for a small lab. The PI and the lab manager interviewed me and a lot of their questions focused on grades from undergrad and masters, not just GPA but specific course grades which I thought was a bit odd. Other than that it was the basic behavioral questions expected and some on DS/ML applications and projects.
I had a phone interview with the professor and quickly went through my background. Then in the second interview, he asked me a coding question and I finally got some take-home quizzes.
