I applied for a RN position and heard back from the clinical manager within a couple days to set up an interview for the following day and she was insistent that I shadow following the interview. The interview was not with her, but with her RN coordinator. Again, all of the staff was wonderful and very friendly. Compared to the previous interviews I’ve had, this one felt the most accommodating. She asked the typical behavioral based questions, very organized, and very personable. I felt the interview went fairly well, although she did ask if I had children, which was a question I’ve never been asked in a professional interview before. After the interview the RN coordinator asked about shadowing and that I could stay as long as I liked; I stayed for a few hours because there was a lot to see and spoke with several staff members, even speaking with a newer hire on orientation who raved about the position. Overall, I felt really good about how the whole process went because the RN I was following made me feel like I was already on orientation. I was really surprised to find that I was quickly removed from consideration by the next day, with the position still posted. Clearly they felt I was not the right fit. It would really be helpful if they communicated decisions just to better understand what they were looking for in a new hire., but I understand with multiple candidates that can be time consuming.
