You have to go through MEPs and then you have to go through a testing phase. If you make it through basic training, you're pretty much set. You then just have to make it through your technical training, then you are off to your first assignment.

If you go to a recruiter they will mostly just ask you would you want to join. Nothing else seriously. They only want your consent to join.
