Take an aptitude test, select one of the jobs you qualify for, pass the physical, and sign the contract. Very few people are turned away. Even with downsizing in progress I would still be shocked to hear of someone who is healthy and drug-free with a HS diploma being turned away.

Recruiter does everything for you, you just have to be drug free, in good health, and take an ASVAB test. Sign on bonuses differ from job to job but if you complete the process within two weeks you get a quick ship bonus

Asked about physical fitness and what kind of environment I wanted to work in.
The process took 3 days and was based off of your work history and experience as a subject matter expert in your particular field. The selection process was tedious but well worth it. The actual interview was based on scenarios and ethical questions.

Physical and mental capabilities are assessed. Medical questions are asked. Background check conducted. A drug test is conducted. Don't say anything stupid and don't tell them anything they don't need to know. MEPS doesn't really have your medical records and they aren't going to send you to jail.
