A recruiter will contact you and determine if you meet the qualifications to become an officer. Then you are asked fill out a job history, information for a background check, college transcripts, and answer essay questions about why you want to be a nurse corps officer in the United States Navy. This goes to a committee that selects applicants based on their qualifications and quality of answers to questions. Once selected a commissioned officer must interview you and give their approval. The officer that did my interview was very outgoing and positive about all people joining the Navy. I have heard of other individuals not having the same experience but this based more on individual personality. You must pass a medical exam with no disqualifying conditions. After you recieve your commission you must complete Officer Indoctrination School in Rhode Island.
