      Candidatura

Ho presentato la mia candidatura tramite segnalazione di un dipendente. La procedura ha richiesto 3 mesi. Ho sostenuto un colloquio presso USAA nel mese di giu 2025

      Colloquio

I interviewed for multiple roles in corporate affairs and risk management. I had received a few referrals for positions. The interview process is incredibly slow. Like many companies, USAA does not show any empathy towards its candidates. Oftentimes, job seekers are looking for another employer because of their current employer’s toxic work environment, they may feel like they are not being compensated enough, are unemployed, workforce reduction, or other factors. Based on my experience with USAA, they couldn’t care less if I was facing any of these circumstances. They do not care about the “candidate experience.” I conducted multiple phone screenings within 40 days after applying for the jobs. The first position I applied for was at the end of May. The second position I applied for was at the beginning of June. In the month of June, I applied for about four positions. Two of them, which I was referred. The recruiter told me they were looking to hire someone for the roles by the 4th of July. The recruiter provided dates for when they would share updates, interview timelines, and when offers would be extended. None of their dates matched what they said. There was always a delay. I always had to reach out to the recruiter or ask the employees who referred me for updates. I had two phone screenings in June. I had one phone screen in July. The phone screening in July was with the same recruiter, whom I asked if they could provide me with the updates they said they would provide me with in June. I had one formal interview with the hiring manager in July. After that, the recruiter provided dates in July when the next or final round of interviews would be held and when offers would be extended, but they never happened on those dates. I had my last interview which was a panel interview in August. Again, the recruiter told me dates that didn’t match up. Of all the positions I applied for and were referred to I didn’t get any of the positions. I served 15 years in the Navy. I am not saying that me being a veteran makes me special. I just assumed a company like USAA would treat a veteran much better than other companies. I am a Black man who is a veteran, and USAA does not have many, if not any, Black male veterans in the corporate affairs/communication department. I have years of experience in the military working in the same department, I have 15 years of experience in corporate America working in the same department, and I was referred for the jobs I just would have thought my candidate experience would have been better. What better way to tell a perspective of the military story from a veteran? Also, a veteran who fits multiple diverse segments and has a PhD (degree higher than a bachelor's)?. USAA showed me that they are exactly like most companies. They don’t care about the candidate experience or diversity. As a veteran and after enduring this experience, I will not apply to work for them or use my VA benefits with USAA. I urge people of color not to apply to work for USAA or use military benefits with them. Why elect to use your benefits with a company that does not care or has no focus on hiring your race as employees? Don’t hire someone because of their race. However, diversifying your departments with qualified talent is important, but USAA doesn’t seem to value it.

      Domande di colloquio [1]

      Domanda 1

The recruiter conducting the phone screenings asks for a background summary and, if you get the opportunity to speak to the hiring manager, they ask more job-specific questions.
