Fastpaced, straightforward and to the point. As work on the railroad or as apart of a train crew is often misunderstood and/or unknown to the general public. Interviewers spent much of the time describing in detail what we could expect as employees and what would be expected of us. Interviewers were honest, while pay, benefits and overall security are good, the lifestyle is not. This was driven home and made abundantly clear to all of us. After that a quick but helpful overview of working conditions, pros, cons, expectations and company culture was presented to us. This was followed by individual interviews with an HR representative in charge of the hiring session and a Manager of Operating Practices of the Terminal or Service Unit the hiring was for.

Recorded interview. 10-12 questions. All pretty comprehensive but over all prepared me for complicated questions in the future. I think they have employees that get furloughed so ultimately didn’t go through with the process.
