I went through four different interviews: one with the recruiter (via phone), one via webcam, one with the hiring manager (via phone), and one with the hiring manager's peer (via phone). I found the whole interview process to be awkward, impersonal and less than professional. By the time I talked to the hiring manager's peer, I had decided that if I was offered the job I would decline (they did not call me back). I never really felt like I connected with any of the interviewers.

Completed initial application, follow up assessment and invitation to self identify. Contacted via email to set up initial interview. 30 minute phone interview with recruiter, followed by request to set up another interview (it was a telecommute position). One hour phone interview with hiring manager, basically laying out the specifics of the job. Felt more like she was selling me the job than finding out if I fit. Left the phone interview confident the next step was an offer. Two weeks went by with no communication. I phoned the hiring manager and she wanted to set up an in person interview with her manager and told me to be looking out for the email. The next email I got said that due to business changes the position I had interviewed for was no longer available. I have applied for 25 open positions for this company, this is the closest I’ve gotten. I think most of the telecommute positions are hired internally, so getting to the interview stage is near impossible. I’m very discouraged with this process, I wish they would only post jobs truly open to the public.

It was a bit long about 4-6 weeks. All virtual which was super convenient. You speak to about 5-6 different people. HR gives you a call to pre-screen you, they make sure you are you and ask you a few general questions, ie: how many years of experience you have? Then end by asking if you're interested, if you say yes they schedule a second interview. For my position all of my interviews were virtual, ie; Skype and or telephonic. The second interview was a skills test, they ask you questions regarding your previous work experience and skills, if those go well they schedule the third interview. The third interview for me was with a supervisor in Florida, I am in Massachusetts and my department is out of Minnesota. They ask the same questions, what are your strengths and weaknesses, how did you overcome a difficult situation, what is your passion. After successfully completing that interview, they scheduled me for a fourth interview with the same supervisor and an additional supervisor on the line (their version of a group interview). I successfully interviewed and HR followed up with me the same day made me an offer and sent me an offer letter. I replied negotiating. Always negotiate. You are your best advocate.
