This company's interview process was a joke and needs great improvement. Their hiring manager contacted me first. He said it would be a 30 min chat. Well I assumed some casual intro for a given time slot. But then this HM apparently wearing a snapback hat in an interview showed up and was pretty terse throughout the interview. He finished his intro and then he paused. I was waiting for his queue to start mine but he exactly said "go ahead". What a rude opener to an interviewee.
Then they gave me a take home assignment which was not bad. Just had to formulate how I make a model for their dynamic pricing problem. Then I was invited to their 1-hour "onsite" which was split to 45 min chat with their team members and 15 min chat with their chief data officer. The 45 min chat was nothing more than behavioral, just chatting casually here and there about what my thought is on an end-to-end ML problem and if I am familiar with AWS, etc. This team chat was ok and I liked the interviewers. But then their CDO was a bit of a jerk. She showed up and did not give any intro about herself and straightout jumped to some of the behavioral questions (how would I prioritize things, how to handle different ideas, etc) but all in 15 mins. Obviously she had to go over time a bit and did not apologize for keeping me over time with her asking questions over and over. 5 mins past the alotted interview time, she asked me if I have any questions and I asked 1Q only because of the time constraint and she didn't look happy enough that I was not willing to stay over time. Haha. Overall, negative experience and wonder about their technical competency given the "easiness" of the interview loop. Nothing technical. Also, the HM's vibe was not going with me and I am glad that I did not get selected TBH.
