It's a 6 month process with multiple phases where you move farther in the process as you meet the criteria in each phase. The phases include an initial application, PT test, Captain's interview, month-long background investigation, Major's interview, polygraph exam, medical exam, and psychological evaluation. If you pass all of that then you get an offer. If you don't get an offer then they won't tell you what disqualified you.

Meet with several senior officers, usually more than two of them. Several phone calls, an in depth background investigation. Someone will come to your home and speak with you and your significant other. And they don't give you much of a head up where you are at in the hiring process. So you have to follow up with them.
