The interview process was pretty long and took about 8 days. I felt very mislead because you have the initial interview which you pass, and after they say you need to pass your mock class to start teaching. This made it sound like the mock class was training and that I pretty much had the job. They then made me go through 3 hours of online material and two mock classes which also took a lot of hours to prepare for and all you have to go off is videos from youtube that they send you to prepare and the downloaded lesson slides. They want you to set up your "classroom" with props and then also make sure all your technology is working. They also strongly encourage you to get orange shirt. About 70 dollars later and probably 10+ hours of work, I got an email with positive feedback, yet it said that my mock class was unsuccessful and I was not chosen.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A LICENSED TEACHER. We deserve better!

Do you have previous experience teaching English Language Learners?
While we hope that when applying that our applicants are able to prepare as well as they feel they have, VIPKID does not require the purchase of classroom items or equipment during the application process.
We apologize for the miscommunication and are working to be clearer and more consistent in both response time and feedback.

Interview process was relatively fun and easy if you're comfortable doing part of a mock teaching lesson. They may do it differently now, but that's what I had to do when I interviewed.

The interview process was easy, the interviewer was pleasant and we shared a few laughs. Doing the demo lesson was easy, as the lesson contact is sent to you via email a few days before you interview - which gives you enough time to prepare.
