Colloquio
1) contacted by recruiter - had a 15 min convo about the position and connected me to hiring manager
2) call with hiring manager lasted 30 min, talked about what value I would bring to the company and my background
3) got invited to an onsite interview in Austin, TX that lasted 4 hours. There were other interviewees there. There were 2 1:1 interviews with hiring managers. Talked about how my experience relates to VMware (***make sure you have technical sales experience***). One of them was really cheery and the other one was like talking to a wall, so know how to read the room and act accordingly. We had an hour long cultural presentation which I actually really enjoyed. There was, in my respectful opinion, a really dumb group assessment where they put you in an unrealistic, hypothetical situation and have you and your team find a solution. Make sure you use the whole time they give you or they won't think you actually tried. Show leadership and proper business acumen as well. There was also an hour long Q&A with a previous Academy graduate which was helpful to get a perspective from someone new to the company. That was then followed with a tour of the office.

The recruiter called me at the time we had agreed on for the phone screen interview. Recruiter was extremely unfriendly and impersonal. Recruiter sounded monotone, unenthusiastic, and insincere, uninterested in the questions they were asking and uninterested in my responses. Was super awkward, and I left the interview thinking they had no idea who I was or why I was qualified. In hindsight, I'm guessing this attitude was intentional, and that the recruiter was mainly testing the applicant's confidence in "selling" him/herself, as this is a sales role. I'll know pretty soon whether or not I'll be moving forward, but I don't feel it was a good interview. As a word of wisdom to those who are preparing for a phone screen interview for sales at VMware: prepare to be the one DRIVING the conversation and have scripted, polished responses ready. Do NOT expect the recruiter to give any feedback or follow-up questions to your responses. Your responses must be clear, self-contained, and self-explanatory, because they will not try to clarify.

I submitted my application and heard back very quickly, was brought in to a hiring blitz with people of varied backgrounds in which I was asked to prepare a presentation, go through a mock call, and talk about my background.
Domande di colloquio [1]
Domanda 1
The mock call was the most difficult because I was the least prepared for it, and I became very nervous.
