I received a LinkedIn message from a Verkada recruiter asking me if I’d like to attend a Yankees/Dodgers game from a box suite o have a meet and greet with the sales leadership. As someone who has followed Verkada’s fundraising rounds closely, actively looking for a new sales role, and a huge Dodger fan I was incredibly excited to go. I signed up immediately.
The next day I got a confirmation email with instructions on how to access the ticket, but the ticket was not available to me. I followed up with Verkada’s point person named on the email and got no reply. I had an intro call scheduled with the recruiter the next day so I figured I’d just ask him about it.
About an hour prior to the call, the recruiter emails me asking me if I was comfortable with the role being in San Mateo, being that I was in LA. I told him that I am very open to relocating to the Bay Area for the right opportunity, and that I looked forward to our call. The time for our meeting came and went. I followed up with him to see if he was running late and got no reply.
The morning of the game, I emailed the recruiter and the point person again and received no reply. Not A few hours later I emailed the VP of Sales, who I knew was going to be at the game and he got back to me right away. His EA called me and told me she could see my ticket, but it hadn’t been transferred yet. She said that she would take care of it and I’d see it shortly.
About an hour later I got a lengthly email from the recruiter, essentially shifting all accountability onto the Dodgers ticketing department. He said they didn’t have enough tickets and they were uninviting me. If the candidate experience is anything remotely similar to the employee experience I guess it's for the best.

Very efficient and rapid interview process.
Step 1 - Screening call with HR
Step 2 - Call with Sales Manager
Step 3 - Call with Sales Operations to run through previous performance metrics
Step 4 (final) - In person interview at their office. Consists of a culture fit meeting and a mock discovery call with a prospect
Although I didn't get the offer, Jasmin from the HR team was very efficient and helpful throughout the whole process. She gave a very strong first impression of Verkada from the go.

The initial recruiter did a great job at selling the interview process and awesomeness of the people I would be speaking with. ...They all seemed to be busy with their minds up prior to the meeting. I understand it is a competitive position but it felt like an audition where the director already made up his mind

basic interview questions - had to drive down to do an interview with multiple people, it essentially took a day, just to not get the job. Felt like we could have done it remote.
