      Colloquio

The Volexity engineers I interviewed with left me with a fabulous impression of the company. Volexity has built a formidable engineering organization. I spoke with the founders and other engineers during the interview process. The purpose of each interview round was to get as much signal about me as they could, and because of the format this was absolutely a two-way street. First I filled out a questionnaire where I was asked to self-evaluate skills in different areas as well as answer a few open-ended questions for which there may not be any wrong answer. I loved this. Next, zoom interviews were scheduled. The technical interviews were exploratory / conversational but wide-ranging and thorough. There was plenty of time remaining for me to ask questions about engineering life at Volexity. I thought the questions and topics covered were very well chosen, and the engineers kept the conversation lively and loose. At the same time, my answers were thoroughly explored. I've been on the other side of interviews just like this hundreds of times and - whether they know it or not - the engineers I talked to were masters at pulling signal while putting theirs on display. In a subsequent interview, the team described / displayed their engineering processes, which included showing and taking questions about systems I'd likely to be working on. This was certainly the most refreshing and reassuring thing I've ever seen done in an interview -- I had absolutely no reservations about joining up and contributing. The projects I saw were very well documented and laid out. The team answered questions and showed things I wanted to drill into - not just what they wanted to show. Not only did the team make accommodations for my tight schedule, they made me feel welcome and respected. This is an incredible group. The care that went into the hiring process certainly results in an incredibly strong team. I accepted an offer to work elsewhere, but it was very hard, and even a bit sad, to make that decision.

      Domande di colloquio [1]

      Domanda 1

A technical discussion of various topics. There is no clean way to describe this. I claim that it would be impossible to lead the engineers to believe you know things you do not know. Despite this, an exceptionally friendly conversation.
