Recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn in. She conducted a "tech trivia" style phone screen about ruby on rails. I laughed a bit when she unironically asked me the difference between a stack and a queue. Next was a take-home coding assignment w/ 5 days to complete it. Instructions said to spend 4 hours max. No starting code was given. It was up to me to generate a new boilerplate project. Assignment included an API, unit tests, and a database. There was a "Bonus" section where you could implement an image upload endpoint and deploy your app to Heroku. I have no idea how anyone could possibly do bonus part (let alone the base assignment) in 4 hours. The other quirk was they wanted it to be a new GitHub repo with clear commit messages. I guess they want to see the commit history.

The recruiter was amazing and I had a great time all the way up to the tech interview. The tech interview was conducted by someone who approximately 24-25 years old. Which by itself is fine. I had 10 years on the job at that point and near the end of the tech interview, which I solved it just not SUPER EFFICIENT result, He said out loud, "You're rusty, maybe go practice some more." At this point I realized this was no where I wanted to work.
