I was contacted by phone by the recruiter. I spoke with her for 25 minutes on the spot (no interview scheduled) and she only asked 2 questions that were provided to her by the hiring manager. She discussed the role, pay and next steps in the interview process and let me know she had a meeting with the hiring manager the following week to discuss when to schedule the interview. I never heard back. I reached out via email and never heard back. The position was closed and reopened with what appears to be a lower salary. In my experience, this is an easy conversation but one that the recruiter/generalist was possibly afraid to have.
