I filled out the application in person and was interviewed immediately. The interview was rather extensive for a retail position, but the purpose is to get a sense of what kind of person you are and whether or not the fit would be good. I appreciate this approach, as it minimizes the negative impact of frequent turn-over (as much as it can in the retail industry). I wasn't offered a job on the spot, but I was not at all surprised when I was called the next day and offered a job.
