Pre-screening via call > interviews
Around 2 weeks after applying, I received a call from a recruiter. It was the most disrespectful and impolite interview ever in my life. The recruiter has the worst telephone manners and speaks to me like I am dirt who doesn't deserve to work for them.
He doubted and insulted me for switching my career to marketing when I had a BA in another area. He also suspected my certified skills even though I have certificates to prove them. I have attached them along with my resume so he should had them in his hands, so I was confused and felt offended by his distrustful reaction. Throughout the call, he sighed, said "Ughh", and used a disrespectful tone to every of my answers as if he was bored, and kept saying things that implied how annoyed he was when someone like me dared to apply for this role and that it was a waste of his time to get my interview over with.
I find that very unprofessional. He had every right not to contact me at all if he saw that I was not qualified, but he still chose to call and insult me and look down on my skills. It could be your bad day or something, but it is important to always remain professional and polite to any candidate you CHOOSE to call. As a recruiter, it's crucial to maintain a positive image of the company and good relationships with the talents. Judging from his behavior and attitude, no matter how the result turns out, I know exactly that I no longer want to proceed. The recruiter's attitude somehow reflects company culture and ethics and I would never want to put myself in such a discouraged environment.
Interviews are not only for the company to judge candidates. It is a get-to-know-each-other process where both sides are being evaluated, so I hope this recruiter does realize one day that the candidate also evaluates the company because, after all, nobody applies to only one company. They also have a list of companies in hands to cross out and that could be your company if the hiring process seems to be negative.

Domanda 1
* If you get a call from the same recruiter as me, be prepared that he might yawn, sigh, or roll his eyes when you answer. And his language and tome will be abrupt and super impolite*
- Explain your current situation. What happened to your career path? Why did you switch your career? Sighhh I still don't get it why would you do such thing? You think that's a good move? Ughh Alright. Well. Sigh What do you do now again? What? Ha!
- Do you know what you are doing right? This is a position that requires xxxxx Are you sure you have those skills? Sigh. What made you think so? You really think you have those skills? You really think? Ok. Alright. Where did you learn it? Tell me exactly where and what are the names
- Did you take any training/ courses in your first job? Name ALL of them exactly.
(I said there were 1-2 trainings per month so there were roughly over 20 courses considering that I have been doing that role for over a year. Most of them were about xxxx )
No. I don't want an explanation. I want exact names of ALL courses you took. WHAT are their names.
(At this point, I confessed I was not sure about the exact names of some courses since it was a few years ago but I offered to look it up for him if he needed. At this point, I was not sure why he needed these names because they were irrelevant to the role at all. That's why I didn't include them in my resume in the first place. But since he was curious, I was happy to answer and offer to get what he wanted)
You don't remember them? YOU DON'T REMEMBER? Oh my. Ughhh No no. What do you mean? No! You don't have to look them up for me. Sighhhhh
(I was suddenly put into guilt for not remembering the exact names of more than 20 courses and trainings I took during my first job. Nice. At this point, I didn't know what's with him anymore)
- Why do you want to work for WT? Ha! Sure. Ughh
