Screening Interview with the Hiring Manager who schedule a 30-minute call to discuss the role and interview me. Hiring Manager explained the role and then asked a few questions. Overall it seems like en easy interview process.

Screening call with the recruiter. First call with the hiring manager that was 30 minutes followed by a panel interview of 45 mins each with 4 interviewers. Was told that they wanted to move forward and would begin the background screening process. Background screening process completed in one week. Verbal offer made and accepted with no start date. Was told that they were in the middle of the acquisition with Microsoft and would have an update in two weeks. Checked in every two weeks and deadline was moved. Three months later, offer was rescinded after her acquisition was complete. Seems like executive leadership at Xandr now part of Microsoft Advertising have no clue or say in what happens. They were hiring a whole bunch of people and now cannot move forward with them due to changing business dynamic. Seems like Microsoft overruled them on the hiring. While hiring freezes are common during a M&A, I was assured by both HR and the hiring manager multiple times that it was a matter of time before the start dates would be provided and the offer still stands. What sounded like a promising work environment with a great start up culture turned into an environment where the corporate culture at Microsoft took over leaving the Xandr/AppNexus crew with no say in the matter. I guess I dodged a bullet!
