The first interview was very standard, spoke about me and my experience with an initial recruiter. She told me about Xevo and what they did but wasn’t too aware of the tech terminology nor sounded excited about working there. Regardless, I decided to continue to move forward. The second interview was a live code session where an engineer brought up a problem and I had to create a solution while they watched as I coded. I was able to complete the challenge and talked through my reasoning as to why I decided to code it in the manner I did. Then I went on to asking questions of which I asked specific team questions, questions about their engineering department, problem areas they needed help, and others. He answered the questions but was very short and did not sound excited about his role or the company either. A week later I got a call saying that they will not be moving forward. If I could change anything about the interview process it would be to focus on getting a potential candidate engaged throughout the process, I did not feel like this was an amazing company to work for and perhaps it showed.
