Interview discussed my education, past experience, and design philosophies through a review of my printed portfolio. In addition, we went through a discussion of the work produced by the firm, and the tasks at hand required for the role of Architectural Designer.

I received a call to schedule the interview. I was asked my location & availability. The in-person interview was strange & not very pleasant. 3 hrs before my interview I was asked to come sooner as they had another commitment. Prior to the interview I was asked to get my portfolio which I did, but during the interview I was asked if I had an HDMI cable. Which candidate is ever expected to do that without notice? Since I did not have one- they decided to stick to viewing my printed portfolio, as well as on my Ipad. The interview was conducted by both bosses- and they mainly were just interested in one & only one question. Which is what would be your salary expectation. The lower your number, the better chances of you to be hired here for overtime. They themselves feel embarrassed to mention salary range on any of their job postings- they are that low. When I asked them if they had a budget number for this role, they really were extremely unhappy and the look on their face was- How dare you? The female boss will keep interrupting you & criticizing you, so please keep calm & take it as a feedback, even though she has barely read through your project & has opinions. They flipped through my portfolio in about 5 mins, asked random dimensions from random projects. And then when they realized they had a candidate who they definitely could not afford at a criminally low salary- or would not agree to it.T They told me it was my location that they had an issue with so could not move forward. My address was known to you on my resume, as well as prior to the interview- why make candidates come all the way- when you are absolutely not interested in their work or them. Or do not even value their skills.
