      Colloquio

Overall experience of HR communication is poor. Sent my CV with contacts such as phone, email and skype. HR contacted me through LinkedIn. Red flag 1. HR was answering me with a delay of approx. 1 day. Even when she wrote me and answered the same second - to answer to me I was waiting for 1 day. During the HR interview figured out they could not afford my expected compensation but I decided to go on with an interview because I wanted to know about this firm more and research interview processes. Also HR told me that first, there would be a technical interview and later - test task. The same day she sent me a task and asked to answer it before next steps. Afterwards, she told that she warned me that the interview will go first. And it was lie because of course you pay attention to such things and I double-checked this with her. Second red flag. It would be enough for me to stop the interview process with them but I liked their test task so decided to go on, expecting all sorts of inadequate situations in the future. Questions in the test task were fairly relevant to JD and open (difficult). See in attachment. I spent a day filling out test tasks and replied. After that started a very messy procedure of booking a technical interview. I was communicating them for the whole month at this point. Fair to say that HR was trying to apologize for this. But still inadequacy started to build up. This is how it was: HR asked me to say when it was convenient for me to have an interview. I said - any day, especially in the morning. She said she would send me timeslots. Gave me one timeslot. I agreed to it. Appeared that this timeslot is bad for them. I asked just to book something anytime so i would adapt. Finally, it happened So a technical interview happened. Questions regarding the product owner role were not quite adequate - I expected something more interesting. PO questions were: my previous experience as a PO. How to prioritize tasks (expected WSJF answer)? What is a good story? (expected INVEST answer) Their technical guy (tech lead) was late for an interview for 45 minutes – which was unacceptable for me and at this point I already knew for sure I don’t want to deal with them. Now skipping to an interview conclusion and their feedback. The hiring manager corrected me that story design should always take into account INVEST acronym and not mention it was a minus for me. I belive this is a silly question for a PO with 10 years experience and generally, I described the story format as in SAFe without mentioning an INVEST. (im sertified SAFe PO and SAFe fanatic but an uncertified hiring manager decided I don’t know SAFe well enough because of non-mentioning INVEST). Should I? Judge for yourself (I just said that my stories are short, always have finished business value and are testable. Also, there were a lot of technical questions regarding the professional domain of the firm (my previous domain was completely different and i mentioned to the HR that it bothers me cos I'm not a technical guy but more of a business value guy - i said that i was not using SQL and program languages for like 15 years) Still they asked me about applications architecture, data transfer protocols, HTML, SQL. Also there was questions regarding UML where I to be frank was not very good. In my practice – I don’t apply UML standards much – just draw block-schemes when I need them. When I tried to ask questions about their process – they told me that those are “trivia” questions and she didn’t understand why am I asking questions at all. “We here to check your expertise only” as she said. No comments here. In general – I’m glad I exercised with their test task and figured out their interview questions. One of the worst interview processes I’ve ever seen. They rejected me cos of those INVEST and technical questions (no offense taken for technical questions but regarding INVEST – it triggered me a lot)

      Domande di colloquio [11]

      Domanda 1

      1. Your team gave the estimates for user stories/tasks but the actual time spent exceeded expected. There is a high probability that they will not meet the commitment. What are you going to do in this situation?
      1 risposta

      Domanda 2

Your manager has scheduled one additional daily meeting for you and it does not make any sense from your standpoint. What are your actions?

      Domanda 3

A manager asked you to pull one additional important story/task in the sprint. He hasn’t announced this information before or during the sprint planning. If you take the story/task your team will not be able to reach the sprint goal. How, as a Product Owner, should you deal with it?
      1 risposta

      Domanda 4

Every week you report about the work progress of the team. This sprint was not successful for the team since they have failed some items. Formally it is possible to connect the failure with existing dependency on another team. In this case, your team will not be fully responsible for all the problems. How will you handle the situation?

      Domanda 5

Your team works with the Jira project which is restricted for all the other employees in the company. One of the managers asked you to open the project for all the colleagues. After this, any person in the company can check the team’s backlog, progress, reports, etc. What option will you select (open or restricted project)? And what are the arguments for your choice?
      1 risposta

      Domanda 6

      6. Your product works in a live environment. Unfortunately, there was an incident where the product was down for some while. The team has noticed and fixed all the problems pretty fast. What will you do after this incident?
      1 risposta

      Domanda 7

Accidentally you have noticed a bug in the functionality which is owned by another team. If you share this finding with your colleagues, the team will have to spend additional time helping with the problem. So far you are not able to allocate the team’s effort for any additional tasks since the priorities have already been set. What would be your actions?
      1 risposta

      Domanda 8

It seems that one of your teammates takes sick leaves without any proper reason. How will you react to that?

      Domanda 9

Practical task: Your team has to develop a new functionality - a simple Registration form. Please create the team’s backlog and list there all the needed items.

      Domanda 10

What are the typical risks which can appear during SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and how do you handle them? You can answer in a general way or use the “simple registration form” task for the context.
