I applied for a job posted on LinkedIn for which I was an excellent fit. A couple weeks later I was contacted by an internal recruiter via linkedin direct message saying he was impressed with my background and I appear to be a great fit etc. He explained the next step was for me to submit a video of myself answering some questions through a screening tool he provided. It was basically a one-sided short interview, and he said "only a few candidates have made it this far." He contacted me on Christmas Eve, so I asked about expectations on timing given the holiday. He told me I could take a couple days but that they're moving really fast so he would send me a cognitive assessment in advance to skip a step in the process. I submitted my video the first business day after Christmas and didn't hear from him. I followed up by LinkedIn DM and still nothing. Ghosted. Fast forward about a month and I get a personal message, (not a linkedin blast) from a third party recruiter. He said he's working on a role where I appear to be a great fit and we arranged time to talk. It turned out to be the same role at ZestyPaws! I explained to him where I was in the process and he got me back in touch with the original recruiter who finally sent me the cognitive assessment. I completed it immediately - it was an easy one. Then I didn't hear from him again. Weeks went by after pinging him on DM, so I finally reached out to the third party recruiter to see if he could assist me in getting in touch. Moments later I got a "thanks we're moving in another direction" email from ZestyPaws. A mentor once told me the way a company treats employment candidates is a good indicator of how they treat employees and customers.

Ha, what interview process? filtering out resumes, auto reply, and auto assessments are not how you find leaders. Literally sent out a timed assessment, think SAT questions and puzzle solving, um thanks? I took the SAT 25 years ago, didn't realize I needed to solve basic math questions for a Director role that I'm clearly overqualified for. Then once you pass that test, they send another auto assessment which asks for strategic work (again, not work commiserate with the role they are hiring, but entry level "please provide copy for an email ad" What ridiculous management book did someone read and think this is how we find amazing leaders in ecommerce? I'm going to guess most folks drop out (given I was just sent an email asking me to please finish the strategy work) No thank you.

I never actually talked to anyone as a part of this interview process. I was sent a link for an IQ test. Then a few weeks later, I was sent a 5 part work sample exercise. The content was most definitely used by the company. When I walked for any sort of follow up a week after that, I was rejected with no further information. The position also has a person in the position, who has been there for years. I strongly advise you avoid.
