I recently had a very disappointing experience with the hiring process at Eclerx.
I went through three rounds of interviews, including technical and discussion rounds, and successfully cleared all of them. In fact, after just two rounds, there was already an offer discussion where I was asked about my availability and even encouraged to join immediately, which indicated strong interest from their side.
However, I was then asked to go through an additional “role-fit” round, which again turned out to be more of a technical evaluation. Despite clearing that as well, the process started to become unclear.
What made the experience worse was the lack of proactive communication. I had to continuously follow up for updates instead of receiving timely responses from the hiring team.
Finally, after repeated follow-ups, I was informed that my current salary itself was higher than their budget, and hence the offer was not getting approved. This came as a surprise, especially after multiple rounds, positive feedback, and prior offer discussions.
If salary alignment was a concern, it should have been addressed at the very beginning instead of after investing so much time and effort from the candidate’s side.
Overall, the process felt unstructured, lacked transparency, and did not respect the candidate’s time.
Advice to Management: Ensure budget alignment and candidate expectations are clarified early in the process. Respect candidates’ time by maintaining transparency and structured communication throughout.
