I applied to several studios, with the non-west coast studios being noticeably more friendly and communicative. The folks at the Austin studio were great; the west coast studios felt awkward and standoff-ish during later stages. On several occasions, I was given an inaccurate picture of what the company was looking for. One of the processes ended, after many hours of involvement and time committed to interviews, with an automated message saying they had selected another candidate. The other ended by saying they no longer needed to fill that position. Both were handled poorly, and left a less-than-stellar impression of the company.

Was contacted by a recruiter; spoke to them for less than 15 minutes.
Passed onto the next round for case study reviews.
Sent the recruiter multiple emails throughout the 2 weeks of interviewing, and to follow up, but received no reply.
Thought I was getting ghosted, until they recently sent me a generic rejection email that didn't make sense.
No support, despite having been referred. No communication.

In the first round of interviews. I talked to two designers. They asked questions about my study experience, work experience, and asked me to present my portfolio. The whole process is smooth, they are asking questions about my design process a lot. They care about how I come up with the design a lot. In the end, they also open to answer questions about Frog. I think it was a nice and relaxing interview, just like I shared my portfolio with two design friends.

I applied online and I received a response the same day, what surprised me. We set a phone interview pretty quickly, they have a very handy system for that. During the call I had some technical issues and they were super nice and call me back multiple times, what I really appreciate. Unfortunately even though they liked my profile they only hire people with permanent working permit, what is not the case for me.
