Not great, got a take home assignment that said it would take three hours. It was to stand up an API, a React frontend, and an automated deployment pipeline. This is not a three hour endeavor, but the staff clearly knew that based on the interview. The pay range was not at all indicative of a fair wage given that they often ask employees to come into the office 7 days a week. When I showed up to interview in person, it was clear that neither the CEO or COO had even looked at this take home that I had worked on for a weekend to get working for them. This company seems to just have nonstop red flags regarding it so I really don't mind being rejected by it, but my advice is to not do an hours long assignment for people who won't even look at it and have you work 7 days a week for at most 120k. The CEO is a nice guy, but I was raising an eyebrow at most things they said about the company

Got a response to my application about working on their R2D2 browser plugin project. I had put my target at 140k and the job listing said 90-140k initially, but in the first screening interview I was immediately cautioned that that was the top of their range and pretty much told to expect less. Then was given a take-home project to do which was essentially build their entire app. This seemed excessive so I just built one of the features of their app which seemed to be fine and was brought to the next round, an in-person interview at their office in Glendale. After checking the job listing again after the initial interview, the pay range had been changed to 80-120k. The in person interview seemed to go well, although it was emphasized that it was a true start up and that the hours would be long each day and include a lot of weekends. Also, the role was contract to hire and did not provide benefits immediately. I was told I'd have a response early the next week, but didn't hear back. After emailing them for updates once a week for a few more weeks and being assured I'd have a response by end of day or end of week each time, they eventually stopped responding to me. I think this place would be a good place for someone just starting their career to learn a lot and get rapid exposure to a lot of technologies and get some great resume experience, however for someone with a few years experience it seemed to me they didn't want to pay market rate and wanted to hedge their bets with the option to let people go whenever they felt like (they basically said this to me straight up). It's ok if its not a good fit but I thought I did alright in the interview and I took the time to do a take home project so I would've appreciated an email just saying "we decided to go with someone else" or whatever it was. Oh also they want you to use your own computer and equipment and it's strictly in-office, no remote. So if you apply, just be aware of these things.
