      Colloquio

In more than 20 years as a computer professional, this was the single worst interview experience I've ever had. I was contacted by a head hunter on LinkedIn who told me about a training position. This position with this company was almost identical to work I had done for three years for a larger competitor of theirs. I passed the screening with the head hunter, an in-person interview where I taught a lesson, and a tech interview with one of the other technical trainers. After waiting until after the time period for a response had passed, I reached out to the recruiter who had difficulty getting to MThree. When he did, a week after I contacted him, I found out I was rejected. With my time in the industry, I've been rejected from other positions before. I know it's always a possibility to not get hired. But to be rejected for a position I was especially suited for and did successfully for years for a larger competitor was mind-boggling. I was not given a reason. It was also very painful to have to wait so long to hear any response at all. I was unemployed and badly in need of an opportunity, they dangle one in front of me and then make me wait what felt like forever before snatching it away. I resented MThree for that, but accepted it for what it was and moved on. Here's where things get really messed up. I was contacted about 6 weeks later by a different head hunter on LinkedIn. He was recruiting for the same position with MThree. I told him they looked at me already and rejected me. About 6 days later, I get contacted on LinkedIn by a third head hunter recruiting for the same position. All three head hunters who contacted me were all working for the same company, contacted me the same way, recruiting for the same position for the same client, MThree. This had become confusing and distressing because I didn't know if there were some mistake, if the company was actually interested in me, or what. The story I was told was that there was a hiring freeze, an acquisition, and a restructuring of some sort during this time, but now they are hiring again and they're really interested in me as a candidate. I go through a new round of interviews. I was told the interviews went great and everyone liked me. BUT they gave the position to an internal candidate. Ok, I understand not getting a job. I understand how jobs go to internal candidates. I understand poor communication. But please understand how literally PAINFUL it is to be a candidate without significant income, and working like a dog to keep his family afloat financially while also looking for a new job, to be given an opportunity for a job he knows he can do well an is eager to do so, go all the way through the interview process, get rejected, GET BROUGHT BACK to interview again weeks later when the financial situation is even more dire and he's in even greater need of an opportunity, to only get REJECTED AGAIN, and in favor of someone internal that they could have hired at any time earlier and spared this torture. I was brought to literal tears over this. It was cruel and needless. I've never been more disgusted with a company that would do that to someone.
