Colloquio
This was many years ago when they actually used to hire people around here. I was recruited out of a University in Utah about 5-6 months before graduating. It was a face-to-face interview with the design center manager from American Fork, UT. The interview was mostly for screening purposes. I was recommended to go up to Pocatello for a full day of interviews with several groups. I was offered a position in the test group as well as the Mixed Signal Design group.

One of the engineers pulled out his text book and asked how to do a delta to Y conversion. The other engineer interviewing said, "I don't even know how to do that" and he admitted that he had just looked it up that morning.

I applied through employee referral. First round was supposed to be phone interview. But they were coming to the career fair at my university that week. So, I had an interview with the hiring manager at the career fair. Second round was onsite interview. It was not hard but I was not prepared and I got a reject.

I got a call a few days after I applied online from a recruiter. I spoke to the recruiter for about thirty min regarding salary requirements, moving expenses, location, etc. She was very pleasant to talk to and let me to believe I was a shoe in for this position. She set up a phone interview with the hiring manager. The hiring manager turned out to just be a waste of space as he managed to insult the college I graduated from, the degree I graduated with, and all the experience I had from working private industry. He did this in the first five minutes of the interview. Needless to say this kinda set the tone for the interview because I was upset over the blantent insults. He even put me on hold for 5 min during the interview. He never really asked me any hard questions because he seemed to be fumbling around due to him not being able to come up with any questions to ask me. I ended the interview early and I am glad I did.

Never really got asked any questions because the hiring manager I spoke to on the phone couldn't come up with any questions to ask me. Its does make me wonder why this guy is a hiring manager if he doesn't ask people any questions.
