I applied for this role via a recruitment agency. They sent my CV to TM and they invited me to attend a Teams meeting which took place about a week after my call with the recruiter.
The interview itself was okay. I was asked standard interview questions.
However, there were some red flags. First, the interviewer didn't seem to like my questions about company culture. I asked what they like and dislike about the company and she spoke extensively about the good and wouldn't answer anything bad (she said she's worked there for 9 years and if she hated it, she wouldn't be working there). That to me seemed like she was trying to hide something. The second was how remote working works. She said the laptop provided would have a productivity tracker installed and would work as part of my KPIs which was a red flag to me because it indicated micromanaging. Why have staff work remotely for most of the week if you don't trust them?
A few days later, the recruiter informed me that they decided to offer the job to someone else because I'm "overqualified". I'm definitely not overqualified, they most likely didn't like the questions I was asking them. Seems like I dodged a bullet.
