In my personal experience, I was the only employee working under the CHI branch and often felt overwhelmed by the workload and lack of structure. Expectations were frequently unclear, and when I attempted to set healthy boundaries around my 9–5 schedule as a salaried non-exempt employee, my commitment was questioned.
While employees are expected to be in the office at least four days a week from 9 AM to 5 PM, there is also an unspoken expectation—based on the broader organizational structure—that salaried employees should be available whenever an event or occasion arises, regardless of scheduled hours. This created confusion around boundaries and availability and often contributed to burnout.
I was not given any verbal or written warnings prior to my termination and was not offered payout for unused PTO. I also experienced a workplace culture that discouraged direct communication and constructive feedback. Those who prefer to work within clearly defined roles and hours may find this environment difficult.
Additionally, individuals who do not identify with Christian traditions may feel uncomfortable due to the religious overtones in certain aspects of the organizational culture.
