While ABB is a strong global company, the local site leadership was deeply problematic. Following a failed global audit, more than half of the salaried staff were let go. The site was left scrambling to regain compliance, bringing in outside resources to clean up major operational gaps. Leadership turnover and restructuring created instability. During this period, a significant number of leadership roles were filled through internal networks, which created a strong perception of favoritism and a lack of inclusive hiring practices. Over time, this shift dramatically altered the leadership structure and morale across the plant. Non-leadership salaried employees were forced to absorb multiple roles due to attrition and compliance fallout. Workloads became unsustainable. Many strong performers left due to stress, overload, and uncertainty. The environment became politically charged and divisive. Instead of rebuilding trust after the audit failure, leadership changes further fractured the culture.
