Vantaggi

Pay is best in the business. $100,000+ first year as a road driver. Year two I made $107,000… and took two months off for cancer surgery. Year three I made $129,000. I average 2-3 nights per week in a hotel. Usually only 1 night out then back home the next day. Frequently running turns (home at end of the run). Insurance is free and EXCELLENT coverage. I paid $1,000 total out-of-pocket for cancer surgery.

Svantaggi

Not much life/work balance. Frustrating spending time on the extra board waiting to get a call to go to work, but with more seniority you get less wait time.

Vantaggi

Great benefits... if you make it that long

Svantaggi

Disorganized from the beginning. I was hired as a dock worker. After two weeks of dock training I was put on-call for week and did not recieve a call to work. Until you complete your "yard" training (which is essentially learning how to backup a truck) you are not a full-time hire. After you pass the test you will be given a seniority number (which is really low) and you will start on nights or they may send you to terminal that is an hour away, depending on where you live.
