So far my entire experience at Abiomed has been overwhelmingly positive. Everyone I met during the interview process was very down to earth and humble. I had a great time working with the internal Abiomed recruiter during the whole interview process as well. The whole onboarding process was relatively seamless. My first day was a full day orientation, which was very well organized and covered all the basics you would need to know before beginning at Abiomed. It surely beat out the "here is your desk" orientation I have gotten in the past.
My experience with my manager has been nothing but positive so far as well. I have already filled out an Individual Development Plan, outlining areas I want to improve and develop on in the short term and long term. I am trusted to work around my own schedule while still coming into the office twice a week due to Covid.
In terms of the company itself, Abiomed seems to very focused on continuous improvement and employee engagement. They utilize after-action reviews to both learn from mistakes and communicate it to people who would benefit from the information, contributing to a more efficient workplace. They also have plenty of employee engagement initiatives, such as suggestions boxes and patient-focused events. I look forward to experiencing additional employee engagement events post-covid.
