Vantaggi

It's a good way to get your foot in the door in the industry and the people supported are great.

Svantaggi

-You're overworked and underpaid. -You're expected to be on call 24/7 (even on your day off) but you don't get paid overtime as management even when you have to work in the house or go over 40 hours. - You will receive a disciplinary action if you don't answer your phone regardless if you were busy, on your day off, at an important life event, etc. - You're subjected to a dirty work environment and they expect you to deep clean the bathroom and the office because they refuse to hire janitorial staff. - They want you to make your life revolve around the job but refuse to pay you adequately for it. - It's a high stress, 24/7 job and you will end up doing DSP duties a lot of the times even though they tell you that you won't in the beginning.

Vantaggi

Great hours, vacations, and holidays off. Union company.

Svantaggi

Management often demonstrates a lack of respect toward staff and appears to prioritize their own interests rather than supporting teachers, therapists, assistants, and other employees. Many staff members feel that if management has a personal issue with them, their concerns are dismissed regardless of their years of dedication, experience, and contributions to the organization. There is a perception that the organization operates differently when external agencies such as the Department of Health (DOH) or Department of Education (DOE) conduct audits or visits. During these times, efforts are made to present a positive image, while day-to-day concerns raised by staff may go unaddressed. Management would benefit from additional training in leadership, communication, and employee relations. Rather than discussing concerns about staff behind their backs, supervisors should address issues directly, professionally, and respectfully. Open and honest communication fosters trust, teamwork, and a healthier work environment. Staff should feel valued for their experience, dedication, and hard work. Employees who have invested years of service deserve fair compensation, recognition, and support. When staff feel respected and appreciated, they are more likely to remain committed to the organization and contribute positively to its success.
