I lacked clarity on the tasks that needed completion and the types of assignments I would be handling. After a few meetings, everything suddenly switched to Swedish! On several occasions, I have felt forgotten and unwelcome, as if being a junior and not speaking Swedish were a fault. I perceived the media campaign promoting Work-Life balance as deceptive because the lack of assignments can lead to being dehumanized. Despite their vocal support for inclusion and diversity, they treat junior employees quite differently, and this disparity is even more worse for foreign-born employees. Being distrusted is often considered normal in such cases, which can lead to an even worse employment situation. They don't take such diversity crises seriously or attempt to resolve them, despite the claims of being at the forefront of inclusion and diversity, and even instructing others on how to craft unbiased communication! In the end, it was a lonely experience without a vision for a future here. Even after improving my Swedish very fast, as a junior at the beginning of my career, the worst imaginable happened: I was laid off. The last chapter was like a nightmare, I can not share more details about it but it was a forced termination with a lot of humiliation, stress and mental exhaustion. They also tried to scare me while keep making me feel desperate, lonely and so weak to easily agree on the termination.
