I enjoyed being able to work with and help service members, this was my dream job! It was extremely rewarding to me when my service members cases would be approved. They were always so thankful for my help and I loved that about the job. I loved my supervisor, she was very understanding and supportive. I liked the freedom of being able to sometimes work from home. The flexibility really worked for me.

I found that many of my coworkers were taking advantage of being able to work unsupervised. I was often contacted by other service members begging me to take their case because their current RCC (recovery care coordinator) wasn't helping them at all! It became more and more difficult to take on my coworkers cases as I was overloaded, but I really wanted to help the service members. I also did not like that all of the RCC's were paid the same. I was living/working in one of the most expensive areas in the country and they wouldn't consider giving me a locality pay adjustment. The low pay was ultimately why I left. I couldn't live on that salary. I also did not like that this was a contract position. I was always nervous about not having a job the next year.
